Bhawanipore FC start I League qualifies with a comfortable 2-0 win over Bengaluru United FC

Kolkata sides Bhawanipore FC made a strong start in I League qualifies this afternoon beating Bengaluru United 2-0 in a convincing display at the YBK stadium in Kolkata.

Goals from midfielder Panjak Moula (45+2) and Ghanaian forward Philip Tettey (60) sealed all three points for Sankarlal Chakraboty’s side who will be buoyed with the clinical display from his side.

Bengaluru United started very well but couldn’t take their chances and it came back to haunt them as Bhawanipore took the lead right before the stroke of half time. Tettey’s powerful shot was parried away by Bengaluru United’s keeper Arun Kumar only for the ball to find the feet of Pankaj Moula who slotted home from close range. Tettey, who had been exceptionally brilliant throughout the afternoon added to the scoreline at the hour mark, powering home an unstoppable volley from inside the box. It was all formalities by Bhawanipore FC after that as they controlled the tempo against a disjointed Bengaluru United attack to set up the three points and the win.

Local rivals Mohammaden Sporting Club will take on Gharwal FC at the Kalyani Stadium in the second match of the I League qualifies today at 4:30 pm.
