The volatile situation along Assam-Mizoram border got aggravated on Saturday after another blast occurred two weeks after the first bomb blast. It is not clear who might have triggered the explosion during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Reports said that unidentified person(s) triggered the explosive at a Lower Primary School in the Assam-Mizoram border area.

Two weeks ago, the first blast occurred in a school in the Assam-Mizoram border.

Both sides of the border blamed each other for the latest blast. The degree of damage of the structure by the latest incident is yet to be known which was believed to have occurred around midnight. However, it was confirmed that no one was hurt by the impact of the blast.

Mizoram police said a case has been registered at Vairengte police station and a probe has begun. The police refused to divulge anything at the moment.

It can be mentioned here that the border dispute between Mizoram and Assam flared up on October 9 after a farm hut and plantations were damaged on the disputed land near Thinghlun village in west Mizoram’s Mamit district. Since then tension prevailed along the border with blockade and counter blockade imposed.
