Celebrating Literary and Pageantry at 58th RKL

UKHRUL: Celebrating literary excellence, cultural expression, and sporting spirit, the 58th Raphei Kamtamnao Long (RKL) Sports, Cultural & Literary Meet 2026 is underway at Khamson Waleyly Village. 

The General conference organised annually brings participants from across villages to compete in literary contests, cultural showcases, and sports disciplines. Organisers said the remaining sports titles will be decided in the finals scheduled to be played on Thursday.

Among the major highlights of the meet was the Miss Raphei 2026 pageant, where Thotdharmi Shimrang of Peh emerged as the winner. Leiyashon Bounty Tangpu of Peh was adjudged the 1st Runner-Up, while Wonchui Rungsung of Chingai secured the 2nd Runner-Up position. Shimrang also won the Miss Catwalk subtitle.

As a Psychology major at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru she stated, “Being the only Northeastern girl in my department has shaped me with adaptability, courage, and the power of standing alone.”

Responding to the final question on what defines a beautiful and meaningful life, she said it lies not in perfection but in happiness and contentment, guided by values such as kindness, responsibility, and purpose.

Other subtitles were awarded to Reisangwon Horam (Miss Beautiful Smile), Catherine Khansu (Miss Personality), Chonchui R Shimray (Miss Congeniality), and Somirin Haorei (Miss Physique).

The cultural segment of the meet also featured Raphei’s Got Talent, which saw enthusiastic participation across singing and dancing categories. Singwon Rona Shimray emerged winner of the talent round, captivating the audience with her soulful voice amid strong competition from several performers.

Literary competitions at the meet highlighted strong engagement with language, thought, and creative expression among participants. Chaingam Jelly of Khamasom Phungrei topped the Painting competition while Lakleichon Shatsang of Huishu won the Poetry category. 

The Essay title went to Soshim Soro of Chingjaroi Khullen, Quiz to Halang Katamnao Long, Declamation to Ngakuimi Hongrei of Shirui, Extempore to Rindharwon Raikhan of Chanjaroi Ngachaphung and Debate to Khanyalan Zimik of Peh.

The event stands as a reminder of strong community bonds fostered through collective participation and talent.
