UT News Service | Shillong, Aug 28: Senior Congress leader in Meghalaya, Charles Pyngrope opined on Thursday that the interim president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Sonia Gandhi should continue to lead the party.

Pyngrope said that he does not see any reason as to why she should not continue as the President of the AICC.

“I am of the view that she should continue as the president of the AICC at least for now,” he said.

He observed that if a section of top leaders of the party feels that there should be a change in the leadership, they should contest the election to the post of AICC president.

He added that if the leaders are able to win the election then they are always welcome to lead the party. He however said that it should be as per the constitution of the party.
