Chiefship Coronation of Wanglar Hemasing of Japhou Village, Chandel held

Chandel: The Chiefship coronation (Eruwng Pham Eka) of Upa W. Hemasing Monsang was held on Thursday at Japhou village community hall organized by Japhou village authority and family members of W. Hemasing.

MLA 41-Chandel (ST) A/C, SS. Olish Lamkang, Deputy Commissioner Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, IAS and Retd, CEO ADC, Chandel Upa Ts. Kothar attended the function as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.

Upa Ng. Benithan, President Sirti Upa Ruh (Monsang Tribe Union) administered the ‘Customary Oath Taking” and Oath of Secrecy certificate from SUR office was handed to W. Hemasing. Blessing minister Rev. Sh. Shrimon, Pastor Japhou Baptist Church prayed for good leadership and blessing upon W. Hemasing and his cabinet cum team members.

Chief guest, SS. Olish congratulated Upa W. Hemasing and conveyed her best wishes for the progress of the village under his leadership and surrounding areas as well. In her speech, she mentioned Chandel district headquarters called Japhou Bazar, once donated by Japhou village elders needs proper preservation and promotion by undertaking town planning beautification and setting up memorial parks and garden lawns. Mayanglambam Rajkumar also congratulated W. Hemasing and wished the new chief and team to overcome new challenges and possibilities for the good of the village and the district. He is of the view that the present common waste disposal site of the Chandel district headquarters in particular and surrounding villages located near the electricity department under Japhou land jurisdiction need to be re-located to a better location nearby or away in the larger interest of public health and safety. Such initiative needs understanding together and public cooperation he remarked.

The function moderated by Ng. Longly, Lula cum Secretary, JVA kicked off with opening prayer by Upa Rev. K. Kumar, Asst Pastor JBC. Upa W. Thamban gave welcome and introductory speech. Beautiful greeting notes, gift presentation, special number from Mrs Sh. Akip and Monsang folk song and dance were the main highlights of the day. The function was attended by many chiefs, public and religious leaders from Monsang and neighbouring Naga villages from Chandel district.

Upa W. Hemasing thanked all the leaders and well-wishers who have attended the program despite continuous rain from the morning which compelled the venue to be shifted from open space to inside the community hall. Upa W. Konitin (younger brother) gave the vote of thanks and the benediction and refreshment prayer was pronounced by Upa K. Tathangam, Asst Chief, JVA.
