CM N Biren: State Govt will not succumb to pressure of vested interest groups

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the State Government would never succumb to any pressure of vested interest groups and would always work for the maintenance of peace and unity among different communities. He stated this while addressing the gathering at the 64th Foundation Day of Celebration of Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) organised today at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, Imphal.

N. Biren then said that his responsibility, as a Chief Minister, was to work, within the ambit of the Indian Constitution, for the development of the State and welfare of its people. He assured to protect the rights of the tribal community provided by the constitution and added that the Government was considering empowering the Autonomous District Councils of the State. Stating that his Government aims to uplift the living condition of the poor and downtrodden, he maintained that certain development programmes had been taken in both hill and valley regions. He also maintained that with various initiatives of the Government to ensure inclusive development, a feeling of oneness had now prevailed among different communities of the State.

Mentioning that very less number of applications had been applied for Start Up from hill areas, the Chief Minister urged youths of hill region to apply for the same as internet connectivity would also be available with the launching of Public Wifi Hotspots at the Hill Districts of the State. He appealed to the youths of Thadou community to concentrate on their education through which they could become job creators rather than job seekers and work for the betterment of their community.

Delivering his speech, Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen stated that the developmental gap between hill and valley regions had now been bridged under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. Trust among different communities had now regained and people of all communities had started paying respects to one another, he added.

Member, ADC Sadar Hills Lamminthang Kipgen, leaders of Thadou Community and members of Thadou Students’ Association attended the programme among others.

During the programme, TSA also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on which the latter expressed the need to look into the matter on what could be done.
