CHANDEL: With the aim to reinforce the party and connect with the people at the grassroot level, the Congress is looking to rejuvenate and restructure itself through election of new District Congress Committee presidents and consolidate the party. In this regard, AICC Observer for Kakching and Chandel District Congress Committees, Prafulla Vinodrao Gudadhe launched the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan campaign at the Town Hall in Chandel on Friday.

The Congress leader arrived Imphal on Wednesday to oversee organizational restructuring in the two districts.

Talking about the campaign, Prafulla Vinodrao Gudadhe said the Indian National Congress launched the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, a nationwide organisational transformation campaign, following the recent AICC session in Ahmedabad.

“This initiative is about building a stronger, more accountable, and people connected party structure starting from the District Congress Committees,” the Congress leader said.

He informed that the main objective of the abhiyan was to strengthen District Congress Committees (DCCs) by reforming the way DCC Presidents are identified, appointed, empowered, and held accountable.

“We are moving from symbolic leadership to functional, committed leadership that will work shoulder to shoulder with the cadre,” he said.

The observer stated that observers have been tasked with extensive consultations with party workers, elected representatives, former office bearers, and civil society to identify the best possible leaders.

“This process will culminate in the appointment of new DCC Presidents who are expected to assume responsibilities by the end of this phase,” the observer added.

“Once DCC restructuring is complete, we will move to revive Block, Mandal and Village Congress Committees, ensuring that the party’s voice is present in every corner,” the Congress leader informed.

Stating that the Abhiyan is about decentralising power and creating space for new leadership from SC, ST, OBC, Minority, Women, Youth, and all committed Congress workers, he called on the delegates to help identify leaders who reflect the Congress ethos and can lead with humility, vision, and courage.

MPCC Secretary and Pradesh Congress Committee Observer for Chandel and Tengnoupal districts, Wahidur Rahman said the main objective of the abhiyan is to rejuvenate the party from the grassroot level by searching for energy and dynamic presidents.

He maintained that this campaign is being held all across the state of Manipur and called on those interested candidates to come forward and nominate themselves for the post of presidents, District Congress Committee. However, he stated that following a one-to-one interaction of the candidates with the observers, the president will be chosen by the leaders of the AICC at the centre and not by the state.

Reportedly, 12 Candidates have come forward and nominated themselves for the post of president, Chandel District Congress Committee.

Hosted by Chandel District Congress Committee, the campaign was attended by over 60 executive members and well-wishers from Chandel Mahila Congress Committee, Chandel Block Congress Committee and Chandel Youth Congress Committee.
