COVID management team for wildlife has been set up

UT News Service | Shillong, Aug 24: Adequate care has been taken by the state government of Meghalaya to counter the COVID virus at all levels and in line with this, a COVID Management Team for wildlife has also been constituted.

Forest Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said that a committee was constituted headed by the Director of Wildlife, with the Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department as a member.

Spelling out the reason for the formation of the COVID Management Team for wildlife, Rymbui said, “The purpose is to see how it affects wildlife. A team is already there to see if COVID affects animals here”.

Informing that they are continuously monitoring the situation, the Forest Minister said, “So far, there are no reported cases in the country and at the state level. We have a team to manage and monitor”.
