Imphal: Different Civil Society Organisations and student bodies celebrated Manipur’s Independence Day across the State today.
Hoisting the Ibudhou Pakhangba symbol-imprinted flag, first hoisted on August 14, 1947, when Manipur gained independence from British rule and offering floral tributes to historical figures like Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, and Paona Brajabashi marked the celebrations.

The Coalition for Indigenes Rights Campaign (CIRCA) commemorated the 77th Manipur Independence Day today at AIMS head office in Kwakeithel.
Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) along with Manipur Independence Day Observation Committee 2023 today marked Manipur’s Independence Day at Manipuri Jagoi Marup complex in Lamboikhongnangkong. While, the Joint Students’ Co-ordinating Committee (JSCC) marked Manipur’s Independence Day from the British at Millennium Institute of Sciences, Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi.

Manipur’s Independence Day from colonial rule was also celebrated in various valley districts. Overall, the events aimed to educate the present and future generations about Manipur’s history as an independent nation with its own constitution prior to its merger with the Indian dominion on September 21, 1949.
