Tobacco products worth around Rs. 5 crore seized

UT News Service | Imphal, July 28: Luwangsangbam Meira Paibi volunteers seized a large quantity of suspected illegal drugs which was later found out to be Tobacco products worth around Rs. 5 crore in Luwangsangbam area, Imphal, today.

A group of individuals wearing IRB uniform escorting the tobacco laden vehicles refused being held and tried to flee but were rounded up by the locals of that area.

Secretary of Luwangsangbam apunba Meira Paibi, M.Leima said, the individuals claimed that the seized items belong to some Ministers and MLAs while refusing to disclose their names.

M.Leima expressed strong indignation saying they will show no mercy to such activities. The seized items were later burnt in a remote area, away from the locality.
