Family members, well-wishers accord grand welcome to Femina Miss India 2nd runner-up at Imphal airport

Imphal: Huge crowd on Friday gathered at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal to welcome the daughter of the State, Thounaojam Strela Luwang, who was recently crowned the Femina Miss India 2023, 2nd runner-up, upon her arrival from Mumbai.

The 21-year-old, Strela was given a warm reception by her family members, friends and well-wishers in Manipuri traditional fashion. This is her first official public appearance in the State after she bagged the prestigious 2nd runner-up title at the 59th Femina Miss India 2023 grand finale which was held in Imphal, Manipur on April 15.

Strela, Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan who was crowned Femina Miss India 2023, along with Shreya Punja of Delhi, first runner-up were all flown back to Mumbai soon after the grand finale. Since then, the winners had been engaged to official assignments and projects of the pageant organisation. The young beauty queen from Manipur also stunned audience in a Manipuri traditional attire as a showstopper for designer Hannah Khiangte at Bombay Times Fashion Week 2023 (BTFW).

After the hectic scheduled, Strela is now happy and looking forward to spend time with her family and friends in the coming days.

Besides her official commitments tied up with the organisation, Strela wishes to promote awareness on mental health issues. “I have many things in my mind but most importantly, I really want to advocate on mental health issue which is something I feel closely related throughout my life,” said Strela.

After her winning the prestigious national beauty pageant title, Thounaojam Strela Luwang also said, as long as we have dreams, people from the Northeast region can also achieve it.

“You don’t need it to be perfect. And it’s ok to make mistakes but one can learn in the process. All I can say is, be yourself,” said the Manipuri beauty queen.

Strela also expressed her thanks and gratitude to the people of the State for always being supportive throughout her Femina Miss India journey. “I can’t expressed with words how much I am grateful to the people of the State. Your love and support, I will cherish it throughout my life,” she said.

Earlier, Manipur hosted the 59th Femina Miss India 2023 grand finale at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal, making it a history in the Northeast region.
