FIR Registered Over Unauthorised Gun Salute Event in Saikul: Manipur Police

Ukhrul, May 4: A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered by Manipur Police following a gun salute incident that occurred on May 3 in Saikul, Kangpokpi District. Per Manipur Police local leaders and elders were summoned to the police station for questioning regarding the event. Simultaneously, coordinated raids were conducted across multiple locations to track down the miscreants responsible for organizing and participating in the unauthorised gun salute.

According to police, law enforcement officials seized five single-barrel guns and a number of camouflage uniforms during a raid. It also added that efforts are ongoing to locate additional weapons and apprehend the miscreants connected to the incident.

“The organizers of the programme will be dealt with as per law,” stated the Manipur Police via their official communication channel on X

It is worth noting that the Kuki-Zo community observed the second anniversary of the May 3 conflict — which began on May 3, 2023, in Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and other areas — as “Separation Day.” Meanwhile, in Imphal, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) organized a large public convention titled Manipur People’s Convention at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium. Thousands from various communities gathered to express unity and call for a peaceful resolution.
