UKHRUL, NOV 18: A joint team of Ukhrul District Police and several security and government agencies has wrapped up a five-day operation targeting illicit poppy cultivation across the district. The first phase of the drive ran from November 11 to 15.
Ukhrul Police said teams from 6 MR, BSF, the Forest and Revenue Departments, NAB, 4 Mahar Regiment, 8 Bihar Regiment, and the Assam Rifles took part in the effort, which focused on the hill ranges under Litan, Somdal and LM police stations,

The operation resulted in the destruction of roughly 436 acres of poppy fields and 51 makeshift huts used by cultivators. Three FIRs were registered, and poppy pods were seized for evidence, Police added.
Officials described the outcome as a significant start to the district’s ongoing campaign against illegal cultivation.
