Former Manipur minister Moirangthem Hemanta injured, wife killed in road mishap

Former minister and vice president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Moirangthem Hemanta escaped with minor injuries while his wife died when the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident along NH-102 on Sunday. The incident occurred at a place between Sora and Langthabal along NH-102 in Kakching district, around 10.30 am.

The vehicle (Bolero) driven by the former minister himself reportedly collided with a vehicle, reports said.
Wife of the former minister Dr P Pratita succumbed to her injuries while the former minister escaped with minor injuries.

He was immediately rushed to a private hospital at Kakching where he was given first aid before referring to a hospital in Imphal. 

He was referred to Shija Hospital for further observation, the reports said.

The former minister, a resident of Tentha of Thoubal district met with the accident while heading toward Kakching along with his wife who served as a doctor in RIMS hospital.
