Government school teachers trained on post lockdown strategies in Nagaland

The Department of School Education, Nagaland, in association with the Pratham Education Foundation conducted four days online training programme ‘Gurushala’ for nearly 10,000 government school teachers.

 ‘Gurushala’ is an initiative of Indus Towers Limited and Vodafone India Foundation. Nearly 8,700 government school teachers of classes 1-8th were trained on the theme ‘Remote techniques for parent and student engagement, assessment methods and post lockdown strategies’ on January 15 and 16, 2021 and over 1000 teachers of class 9-12th participated in the training conducted on the theme ‘Remote techniques for parent and student engagement, content creation and post lockdown strategies’ on January 18 and 19, 2021.

The training discussed teaching strategies that will help teachers transition smoothly from remote/online teaching to classroom teaching. Principal Director, School Education, Nagaland, Shanavas C, IAS during the inauguration session said, “Let this be a beginning, because it is high time for our state to venture into alternative methods of education and teaching.” 

The online teacher portal ‘www.gurushala.co’ launched by Gurushala curates free and high-quality content for teachers. 

Gurushala is now available both as a website and as an application that can be downloaded from Google Play Store. The website works for capacity development of teachers to improve student learning and achieve holistic development of students even with remote teaching.
