In a statement issued by Wangphun Wangsa, Caretaker-cum-CAO of the Wancho Region, it was clarified that Shikngam Wangpan was an ex-member of the Naga Army and had been officially discharged from active service on April 2, 2024 through an order from the competent GPRN authority.

The Wancho Region said while it is grateful for her past service and contribution to the Naga cause, the claim made before the Assam Rifles was “concocted” and “not the first illogical decoration” by those seeking personal recognition.
