Imphal: Ichebi, a non blended garden fresh tea was launched on Friday at the office of M/S Ichebi at Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West. Dr N Ranjana, former Director of ICM who was the chief guest of the function said the initiative taken up by the youths of Manipur to be self-reliant is laudable and we all should support such people who aim to provide quality products to the people of Manipur.

Dr Ranjana said of late the people of Manipur specially those affected by the conflict to earn their livelihood have started producing eatable and non-eatable items which are required on a daily basis. People of Manipur should purchase the products to generate more revenue and help the new generation self sufficient she added.
Athokpam Bishorjit Singh, Pradhan of Sapam Leirak who presided over the function said the tea industry should be encouraged and Manipur has huge tea potential. The tea industry is a highly advanced and lucrative industry which needs state patronage and people’s support he added.

Kanchan Laishram, Proprietor of M/S Ichebi said the focus is to provide the people of Manipur with the highest quality teas from around the world. In memory of Ningthoukhongjam Ningol Khuraijam Ongbi Shantibala whom people fondly called Ichebi the brand has been named.
As people are now buying online the brand has been exhibited on the website www.ichebi.com, she added. Youths of Manipur specially women are working hard to make the product reach the mass in all possible varieties, from the smallest to the buyers who buy in bulk she said. The entire management of packaging and selling is all done in Manipur, Kanchan said.
