In his welcome address, Rev. Dr. Adoreson Khartu, Convenor, Programme Committee of the jubilee, recalled that the Kapaam Baptist Church Children’s Ministry was first introduced on 4 February 1976 by Pastor Ngoruw Hachung and the church leadership of that era. This initiative paved the way for the establishment of a Sunday school for the children, he said.
The inaugural teachers, Th. Marygrace and R. Laden, guided a modest group of 10–20 children, and over the past five decades the ministry has faced numerous hardships and challenges, particularly in conducting classes at various locations, Dr. Khartu maintained. He expressed appreciation for the dedicated leaders who have nurtured the ministry and highlighted the blessings received from God. He noted that, as of 2024, the children now enjoy a purpose‑built Sunday‑school building, marking a significant milestone as the church celebrates its 50‑year Golden Jubilee of the Sunday‑school children.
Giving the exhortation, Rev. Pheliboy Role, Executive Secretary, MYNBA, highlighted the theme of the day and stated that children today should be rooted in Jesus Christ. He said that children should be introduced to Jesus at an early age and their roots made firm in the Lord.
