KISAMA, SEP 18: The Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 event was commemorated at Kisama, the Naga Heritage Village on September 18, marking the 10th anniversary of the initiative. The event was organized by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Kohima Rural/Urban Division, in collaboration with the Phesama and Kigwema Village Councils.
A mass cleanliness drive was carried out, focusing on transforming neglected garbage spots, also referred to as Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), said E. Mhonbemo Patton, IAS, Principal Secretary of PHED Nagaland in his keynote address. He also emphasized on the importance of environmental conservation and public health. He noted that Nagaland, along with the rest of India, is actively participating in the Swachhata Hi Seva movement. The choice to clean Kisama Heritage Village was made because of its significance as a landmark and a hub for tourism in the state.

The event featured a Mass Shramdaan, where volunteers participated in segregating plastic waste, and concluded with a Swachhata pledge led by Lhousikhono Zinyu, State S&H Consultant, WSSO, PHED Nagaland. Vibou Seyie, IEC & WASH Consultant, PHED Kohima Urban Division, led the program, and Bizo M. Kuotsu, Chairman of Phesama Village Council, expressed gratitude through a vote of thanks.
