United Kuki National Army Distances Itself from Arrested LS Yosef Chongloi, Denies Any Affiliation

Ukhrul: Following news reports of the arrest of LS Yosef Chongloi in Guwahati on September 13 for alleged involvement in sabotage activities, supposedly linked to the insurgent group United Kuki National Army (UKNA), the UKNA issued a clarification on September 16.

The UKNA stated that the 34-year-old LS Yosef Chongloi, a resident of Churachandpur district, Manipur, who was apprehended by the Assam Special Task Force (STF), “is not a member of the United Kuki National Army and has no affiliation or connection with our organization. We disassociate ourselves from any alleged activities or claims made by him.”

“It has come to our attention that an individual named LS Yosef Chongloi (34) from Churachandpur, Manipur, was apprehended in Guwahati on September 13, 2024. He was reportedly claimed to be the self-styled Finance Secretary of our organization, UKNA,” the statement added.

The insurgent group further urged the “public, media, and authorities to take note of this clarification and refrain from associating our organization with individuals or actions that contradict our values and principles.”
