According to KIM, “P. Chidambaram rightly stated that Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is the root cause of the ongoing crisis in the state” in a social media post on the social media platform “X” by the Rajya Sabha member, P. Chidambaram.

In the social media post, long deleted, P. Chidambaram had proposed that “regional autonomy for the Meiteis, Nagas, and Kuki-Zo communities was essential for permanent peace in Manipur. The Kuki Inpi, while appreciating this view, stated that the Kuki-Zo tribals “have abandoned the notion of coexisting with the Meiteis and the Meitei-led Manipur State Government under a single administration”.

In the press release, KIM also stated that Yumnam Joykumar Singh, former DGP of police and also a former Deputy Chief Minister in N. Biren Singh’s first cabinet, had provided significant insights in an exclusive interview with The Week where Y Joykumar Singh described N. Biren Singh as a dictator who cannot absolve himself of responsibility for escalating a law-and-order issue into an ethnic conflict.

The Kuki Inpi in its press release, acknowledged Y Joykumar’s bravery and sincerity in exposing the truth behind the causes and key figures orchestrating the ongoing atrocities against the Kuki-Zo tribals.

The Kuki Inpi also thanked Rajya Sabha MP K. Vanlalvena for his unwavering support for the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur. The Kuki Inpi stated that despite hailing from Mizoram, Vanlalvena has been a strong advocate for the kindred tribe Kuki-Zo people of Manipur in times of need. Vanlalvena has advocated for President’s Rule in Manipur and creation of a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people.
