Kuki Inpi, Sadar Hills Condemns Unauthorized Statements

Ukhrul, July 24: The Kuki Inpi, Sadar Hills, the apex body representing the Kuki tribes in the Sadar Hills of Kangpokpi District, has issued a strong public statement condemning what it terms as “unauthorized press releases” and public opinions issued by individuals and civil society organizations “external entities”.

According to a press release the Kuki Inpi expressed concern over the increasing trend of external entities issuing statements on matters exclusively related to Sadar Hills. The Kuki Inpi stated that such interventions are not only misleading but also undermine the autonomy and integrity of local leadership.

“We strongly condemn and reject such unauthorized interventions,” the statement read, adding that the concerns and interests of the region are being responsibly addressed by its own leadership. “There is no necessity or justification for external parties to speak or act on our behalf,” it maintained.

The Kuki Inpi also urged individuals and organizations not to make any statements concerning Sadar Hills unless they are explicitly authorized to do so. It warned that such actions undermine the autonomy and integrity of the local leadership in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The Kuki body called upon the media and public to recognize only those statements issued by the recognized leadership or mandated bodies of Sadar Hills as official.

It also reiterated its commitment to handling internal affairs “peacefully, wisely, and in unity.”
