Ukhrul, September 15: A landslide triggered by heavy rain early Monday morning caused extensive damage to homes in Louphong village, Kamjong district, leaving two families displaced and in urgent need of relief assistance.
The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. when torrential rain swept away the rear portion of the residence of Lawrence Konghar, son of Ngachonmi Konghar. The damage rendered the house unsafe, forcing Konghar and his five-member family to take temporary shelter at the Louphong Club Hall.
In a separate impact from the same landslide, the kitchen area of the residence of Shangreihao Mung, husband of Omcio Mung, was badly damaged. His family of six has also been directly affected and requires immediate help.
