Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh at the closing session of the “Two Day Discourse on the Present Status of Manipur Economy: Opportunities and Challenges” today at at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur said that the people of the State are filled with enormous talents and added that we need to harness the talents to bring inclusive development in the State.
Speaking as function, N. Biren Singh said that although Manipur is a tiny State, the State has topped in MSME business registration among the small States of the Country. More than one lakh individuals are being employed in the MSME sector, he added. He further maintained that the SHGs of hill districts are expanding their businesses under TRIFED and around 40 thousand people are being employed under the Van Dhan Vikas Karyakram of TRIFED.
Maintaining about the Atmanirbhar Bharat, the the chief guest N Biren stressed that the State government has implemented various welfare schemes towards achieving self-reliance in various sectors such as fishery etc. He mentioned that there is visible positive development in the State, in the last four and half years. The flagship schemes and programs have been successfully implemented at the grassroots, he added.
MLA of Langthabal AC Karam Shyam, vice-chancellor of Manipur University Prof. N. Lokendro Singh, Prof. E. Bijoykumar Singh, Distinguished Experts and Resource persons, scholars and students were present during the function.
It may be mentioned that the two day discourse is being organised by the Economic and Resource Development Organisation and Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Manipur University.
