UKHRUL: As the Government of Manipur works towards resettling IDPs in the state, it has also continued to apprise the people regarding its progress.
According to the press release, The State Level Committee along with District level committees under the District Magistrates have been holding meetings regularly and conducting rigorous reviews of the rehabilitation process.
The Government aims to gradually and securely rehabilitate IDPs, highlighting necessities like stable living conditions, resumption of livelihood, education and normal community life. As reported, the Government is working on transitioning out of Relief Camps focusing on livelihood, education and overall wellness of the IDPs.
More than 2,200 families comprising about 10,000 IDPs were resettled by December 2025, with approximately 7,000 houses sanctioned under the Special PMAY-G (Pradhan Manti Awas Yojana-Gramin) for reconstruction of fully damaged houses, the press release stated.
Reportedly, as of January 29th 2026, about 3,700 families consisting 16,500 IDPs were resettled following the release of ₹124 Crore by the Government at various locations for resettlement.
The press release stated that the Governemnt strives to ensure timely and safe rehabilitation with an aim to resettle more than 10,000 displaced families consisting of more than 40,000 IDPs by March 31st, 2026.
