Ukhrul: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Working Committee officially announced the candidate for the II-Outer Manipur seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 on Wednesday.
According to the resolution passed during the CWC meeting held at its central office in Kohima, the party ticket has been issued to K Timothy Zimik, a former principal chief commissioner of Income Tax at the Ministry of Finance (Revenue), for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the upcoming general elections.
The NPF ticket distribution ceremony for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat will be held on Thursday (March 21) at its central office in Kohima.
In a conversation with Ukhrul Times over the phone, Zimik expressed his sentiments, stating, “I have not much to say at the moment, but I am thrilled and very excited. I can see the challenges ahead of me, but with the blessings from the people, I will face the challenges head-on,” he added.
K. Timothy Zimik in early February 2024 had suggested the Manipur government allocate Rs. 2000 crore in the before the budget session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on February 28, 2024. According to Zimik, this special arrangement budget could be utilized as an alternative measure to poppy cultivation. Zimik made this statement during a festival held at Talui village in Ukhrul district on February 16.
The 18th Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Manipur will be held in two phases. The Inner Manipur seat will vote on April 19, whereas the voting for the Outer Manipur seat will take place on April 26.
