Manipur lad to compete at India’s prestigious men’s pageant championship – Rubaru Mr. India

Senapati: Banner Lanamai James from Manipur is all set in the race to bring home India’s biggest men’s pageant award – Rubaru Mr. India as he got selected for the finalists for the event scheduled for later this year.

Banner Lanamai James, son of Karaiba Pungdina and (L) James Lanamai from Poumai Naga tribe of Manipur – Senapati District, has been selected to compete at India’s biggest competition for men – Rubaru Mr. India.  Banner is 22 years old and stands 6 feet tall. He is a freelance model and at the same time is pursuing his master’s degree in English literature and linguistics. 

Banner Lanamai James’s selection is a significant event in the pageant’s history as he will be vying for a back-to-back victory for Manipur at the Rubaru Mr. India competition. The previous year also, Manipur’s Songashim Rungsung won the Mr United Continents title at the Rubaru Mr India contest held in Goa. This year, Banner will compete at the said event to bring the prestigious title back to Manipur for the second time in a row.

Rubaru Mr. India is India’s biggest and oldest running pageant for men. The contest was reportedly established in the year 2004, and this year, the current year is going to celebrate its 18th edition. The event was reportedly founded by Sandeep Kumar with Mumbai-based Pankaj Kharbanda as the Vice-President of the organization. Rubaru Mr. India holds the record of being associated with the maximum number of international modelling competitions and championships across the globe. The top placers of the event go on to represent India at various international championships based in different parts of the world. Rubaru Mr. India holds 70% market share in India’s men’s pageant sector and is the largest contributor to international men’s pageant industry. It is also regarded as the biggest and most celebrated national level men’s pageant in the world. Rubaru Mr. India contest has produced the maximum number of international male pageant award winners and titleholders of Indian origin. 
Briefing media persons, Banner Lanamai James stated that being chosen as a finalists in the huge and prestigious pageant, it is a dream come true for him as he had always wanted to become ever since he was a kid which he called very honoured to be part of the pageant. The finalist mentioned that he has been working really hard as he would not only be representing himself but for his family, his community and his state. Banner also stated that he is ready to go all in and is ready to give 110% and stated to be very excited to be in the finalists. The contestant is hopeful that he would bring the title home this year.
