As many as 27 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Manipur on Wednesday when 1,962 samples were tested, taking the overall infection count of the state to 1,25,905.
The fatality toll in the state also rose to 2,008 with two more COVID-19 infected patients succumbing in the last 24 hours, the state Health department said.
With the fresh infections continued to outnumber the recovered cases, the active cases in the state rose to 268.
A total of 14 patients were discharged upon recovery on the day, taking the recovery tally of the state to 1,23,629. The recovery rate is 98.19%.
The positivity rate of the day is 1.4% as the fresh cases were detected upon testing of 1,962 samples on the day. A total of 14,68,552 samples have been tested so far in the state.
Imphal West with nine cases registered the highest number of fresh infections followed by Thoubal where six new cases were reported.
A rise in the number of fresh cases was also reported in Churachandpur district as the district reported five fresh cases on the day.
Imphal East and Jiribam reported two cases each while one case each in Chandel, Senapati and Ukhrul districts.
The other eight districts reported zero fresh cases, the health department added.
On the other hand, a total of 4229 individuals were inoculated with vaccine against COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking the cumulative number of doses of the vaccine administered in the state till date to 23,26,816.
The total included 13,30,162 first doses and 9,96.654 second doses, the Health department added.
