Manipur logged 365 fresh cases of COVID-19 and two COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the overall infection count to 1,31,704 and fatality toll to 2,036 on Thursday.
Even as the number of fresh cases declined by 23 from the previous day’s 388, there witnessed a spike in the daily test positivity rate (TPR). It was 16.2% on Wednesday but it rose to 19.1% today.
A total of 1,915 samples were tested on the day, taking the cumulative number of samples tested so far for the virus in the state to 15,18,931.
The number of active cases rose to 3,760 even as 347 patients were discharged upon recovery on the day, taking the recovery tally to 1,25,908. The recovery rate stood at 95.60%.
As per the latest release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the state Health department, the two fresh deaths were reported in Imphal East and Ukhrul districts.
Both of them were vaccinated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, it added.
As per the status update of IDSP, no new case was reported in one out of 16 districts of the state in the last 24 hours while nine districts reported lesser number of infections, below 10-mark.
Imphal West district continued to log the highest of 145 new infections followed by 97 in Imphal East.
Churachandpur reported 27 fresh cases, 26 in Bishnupur, 25 in Thoubal and 13 in Kakching district.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,278 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the total number of doses of the vaccine administered in the state to 24,57,958.
Of this total, 13,99,884 were first doses, 10,37,832 were second doses while the remaining 20,242 were precautionary doses.
