Manipur on Wednesday reported two fresh deaths due to COVID-19 related illnesses, pushing the fatality toll close to 2000-mark.
The two fresh deaths in the last 24 hours pushed the fatality toll due to COVID-19 in the state to 1,955, short of five to touch 2000-mark.
None of the deceased victims of the viral disease had the vaccine against COVID-19. Both of them had comorbidities. The deceased were from Imphal West and Imphal East district, the bulletin of the state Health department updated today at 5pm said.
No death related to COVID-19 was registered on Tuesday for the time in the current month, November.
Meanwhile, no new COVID-19 infections were reported in 10 out of 16 districts of the state in the last 24 hours, the bulletin of the state Health department said.
The state reported 51 new cases with 22 cases in Imphal West, 18 in Imphal East, four each in Bishnupur and Kakching, two in Ukhrul and one in Tengnoupal.
These new cases pushed the overall infection count of the state to 1,24,639.
With 34 patients getting discharged upon recovery, the overall recovery count of the state also rose to 1,22,132, leaving 552 active cases currently.
The recovery rate of the state was declined to 97.99% against previous day’s 98% as the daily infections outnumbered the daily recoveries.
The 51 fresh cases were detected upon testing 2,022 samples on the day. The positivity rate of the day was 2.5% against the previous day’s 3.5%.
A total of 13,96,358 samples have been tested in the state so far to detect the virus causing COVID-19.
Adding 7,031 doses administered on Tuesday, a total of 20,76,012 Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the state so far.
Of these total, the number of beneficiaries who got both the doses was 8,11,490 while 12,64,522 had a jab with the first dose.
