Imphal: Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested by police in Manipur in two separate operations and recovered narcotics worth several lakhs of rupees.
Police said that personnel of Sekmai police station of Imphal West district on Tuesday arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 511.48 gram of heroin powder during a check to a car at its permanent check post along NH-2.
The police estimated the value of the seized drug at Rs 10,70,00 in the local market. The arrested individuals were identified as Md Sahid Khan (36) and Kh Zaheed Ali (29). Both are residents of Imphal East district, according to police.

They were arrested after the contraband drugs packed in 39 soap cases were found in the car.
The consignment was supposed to be sent outside the state, the police alleged.
In another operation, a team of police commandos attached with Imphal West district police arrested one alleged drug peddler and seized 185 gram heroin powder worth over Rs 39 lakh in the international market on Tuesday.
The arrested person was identified as Md Amir Khan (27) of Imphal West district, the police also said.

The police arrested the alleged drug peddler at Mayang Imphal on Tuesday, around 3:20 pm upon checking a scooter he came with, the police further said.
The contraband drugs packed in 15 soap cases were found concealed at various parts of the scooter, the police added.
