Imphal: Manipur’s COVID-19 daily tally continued to cross 20-mark for the fifth consecutive day today as the state reported 27 fresh cases of the disease in the last 24 hours.
With 13 patients discharged upon recovery against the fresh cases, the active caseload of the state stands at 144.
The state has been recording a daily tally above 20-mark since July 6. The latest COVID-19 status update of the Health department showed the state recording 27 fresh cases upon testing of 356 samples in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate of the day was 7.6%.
Even though the fatality toll remained at 2,120 with no death link to the virus in the last 24 hours, the infection tally of the state rose to 1,37,439 including the fresh cases reported on the day.

No death link to the virus has been reported in the state since March 18 last. Adding the latest recoveries, the recovery tally of the state rose to 1,35,175 and the recovery rate declined further to 98.35%.
Of the 27 fresh cases, 13 of them reported in Imphal West, seven in Imphal East, three in Bishnupur and one each in Chandel, Kakching, Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts.
With the 356 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the total number of the samples tested for the virus in the state since its outbreak rose to 16,16,783.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing vaccination drive against COVID-19, only 369 people were vaccinated on Saturday. It took the total doses of the vaccine administered in the state to 29,84,295.
In the state, out of 15,98,012 people who had vaccinated with the first dose, 12,66,511 of them received the second dose. As many as 1,19,772 of them had also taken the precautionary dose, the Health department said.
