Manipur recorded over 1000 cases of COVID-19 for the second consecutive day on Sunday. The state recorded 1,032 cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
This is the highest daily tally of the disease since the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year.
With the fresh cases of COVID-19, the tally of the disease recorded in the state stands at 49,882 even as 17 deaths due COVID-19 related complications in the last 24 hours in the state took the total death count to 793.
Meanwhile, 563 persons, who were suffering from the virus, were discharged from hospitals or COVID care centres or have recovered under home isolation. This took the total recoveries to 40,607.
The state has 8,482 active cases and the recovery rate was 81.40% against previous day’s 81.97%, according to the data of the state Health department updated today at 5 pm.
As per the update data, five personnel from the Central security force were among the 1032 fresh infections reported today. Of the 1027 infections from the general population, 542 are males and 485 females.
Even though the twin Imphal districts continued to share a maximum number of new infections with 310 in Imphal West and 281 in Imphal East, analysis of the district-wise saw a gradual increase trend in districts.
The data showed 100 fresh cases in Churachandpur, 95 in Thoubal, 78 in Bishnupur and 46 in Tamenglong as these districts have been registering a gradual upward trend in the daily spike in the last few days.
Of the 17 patients who died in the last 24 hours, five each were from Imphal East and Churachandpur, four from Imphal West, two from Kakching and one from Ukhrul district.
