Manipur: Sudden rise of Covid-19, 45 fresh cases reported

Imphal: Manipur on Monday recorded a sudden jump in the daily COVID-19 tally as the state reported 45 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

The latest update data of the state Health department showed detection of 45 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Twenty-one new cases were detected in Imphal West, 15 in Imphal East, three in Bishnupur district, two each in Chandel, Churachandpur and Kakching districts, according to the data updated today at 2 pm.

The test positivity rate of the day was 15.5% which is very high compared to the previous days which were mostly below the 10%.

The active caseload in the state rose to 172 as 17 patients were discharged upon recovery against 45 new cases.

Adding the fresh cases, the infection tally of the state rose to 1,37,484 even as the fatality toll remained at 2,120 with no death link to the virus recorded in the state since March 18 last.

Even as the recovery tally touched 1,35,192 with the addition of the 17 recovered cases, the state recorded further decline in the recovery rate. It declined further to 98.33%, the state health department said, in its latest bulletin.

Meanwhile, only 174 people were inoculated on Sunday in the ongoing vaccination drive against COVID-19 in the state.

As many as 29,84,478 doses of the vaccine have been administered in the state so far. Out of these, 15,98,079 were first doses and 12,66,546 second doses. A total of 1,19,853 people have also received the precautionary dose of the vaccine, the Health department said.
