Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh (MMCM) organised a reception ceremony of Lhukhosei Zou at the conference hall of the organization at 3:30pm today.
Leaders of Youth Clubs, Tamil Sangam, Meitei Council Moreh (MCM), Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh, Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh (MMCM) and Gorkha Samaj and other Community leaders in Moreh attended the program.
Leaders of different organisation expressed their happiness on releasing Lukhosei Zou.
Appreciating the activities of Lukhosei Zou during his tenure as Chairman ADC Chandel, the community leaders stated that Lhukhosei was a great leader who works for the welfare of the people in the district without any discrimination on community, caste and religion. During his chairmanship, lots of development were taken up in the district and they also wants to re-elect him as member of ADC in the upcoming MDC election.
Expressing his gratitude towards the people in Moreh town, Lhukhosei Zou stated that he was very happy as people of the town knows that he was wrongly incarcerated for no fault of his.
He said that he is ready to resume his career in politics if the people of the town trust him and support him. He continued that he was never related with the drug haul case. He said that, two accused of the drug case were found guilty and sentenced by the court and that he was acquitted from the case he was proven innocent by the court.
Clarifying on his arrest in 2018 Lhukhosei Zou said that when an information was received that drugs were hidden at Mantripukhri Imphal and that NAB personnel led by Th. Brinda were to arrest the drugs, on knowing that Police personnel were to seize the drug and arrest the owner of the drug, Mr Chinliankhup sent the driver Mr Thangminlun to hide the drugs to avoid arrest. After some quantity were seized from elsewhere and Mr Thangminlun Zou was arrested, the driver disclosed that he hid the drugs in his room in security barrack within the ADC Chaiman’s Official Campus.
Taking chance of the incident, the NAB team arrested me without any fault of mine.
When the Kuki Customary Court had also proved that Lhukhosei Zou was innocent and that the drugs belong to Chinliankhup Zou who had been hiding till today. The family members of Chinliankhup Zou had also approached Lhukhosei Zou’s family on 28h December 2019 and seek apology as per Kuki Customary practices.
“Even after the High Court and Customary Law has already proven that I was incarcerated for somebody’s crime if the people of the state still have doubt I am ready to swear in the name of god.”
