Massive Drug Bust in Mizoram: Rs 350 Crore Worth of Narcotics Seized

Ukhrul/Imphal, Aug 2: In a major breakthrough, Mizoram’s CID (Special Branch) and the Special Narcotic Police Station have seized illegal drugs worth around Rs 350 crore in a joint covert operation Friday afternoon.

Acting on credible intelligence, the team intercepted a white TATA YODHA pick-up truck bearing Registration Number MZ01X-5782, carrying mithun along the Zemabawk–Seling stretch around 3 PM. The truck, driven by 45-year-old B. Lalthanzuala of Republic Mual Veng, Aizawl, was found to have a hidden compartment beneath the cargo bed, where the contraband was concealed.

The team recovered 20.304 kg of Crystal Methamphetamine packed in 20 packages, valued at Rs 300 crore, and 1.652 kg of Heroin in 128 soap cases, worth around Rs 49,56,000. The total value of the recovered Crystal Methamphetamine and Heroin is around Rs 350 crore.

Officials describe this as one of the largest and most sophisticated drug busts in Mizoram in recent times.
