In a press statement released by the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Saturday, Former Union Minister and AICC in-charge Manipur, Bhakta Charan Das said, “When coronavirus started spreading in China, America and other countries, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on February 12, 2020 cried out to initiate COVID testing in India too when one Corona positive was detected on January 30, 2020 in our country. His clarion call was for the sake of the people of our country. But Modiji ignored it. He didn’t take any step in the matter. If he had done it timely, thousands of lives could have been saved.”

He was addressing a public gathering at the Wangoi Assembly Constituency Minority Convention held at Oinam Sawombung, Wangoi Constituency today as the Chief Guest. The convention was organized by the Minority Department of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.

He further threw light to the gathering by saying, “Please think of whether the BJP government is respecting your vote or not. Do they recognize you? If they have respected you, they wouldn’t have nominated their candidate who is not from their party. Congress party respect every caste, every religion and we work for everyone. We respect humanity.”

“This bye-election is being held so that they can win and start bullying us all. Do you want to give your valuable vote to these people who are ready to bully you?” he questioned. “Politicians always bow their heads in front of the people. But it is important to see if they are bowing from their hearts or not,” he added.

He further questioned, “What are the remarkable works done by Biren Government in these three years?” Das also noted that the BJP leaders only blamed the Congress regime rather than highlighting the achievements of their government. Das assured, “We have the most trustable leaders like former Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh, MPCC President Okendro and others who are ready to serve you diligently and who are always on your side.”

He requested everyone to give their valuable vote to the Congress candidate Salam Joy Singh to enable him to serve the people with justice.

The convention was attended by Chief Whip Govindas Konthoujam, N. Loken Singh MLA, Vice President MPCC, Kh. Joykisan Singh, MLA, Vice President MPCC, O. Surajkumar Singh MLA, M. Prithviraj Singh Ex-MLA, General Secretary MPCC, Hareshwar Goswami, General Secretary (Admn), MPCC, and Salam Joy Singh, INC Candidate of Wangoi Assembly Constituency.
