UKHRUL: The Mizo Integration Council (MIC) on Thursday briefed the media on its recent outreach tour to Mizoram held from January 20 to 23, during which the delegation met several prominent Mizo leaders, including Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma and representatives of major civil society organisations.
Addressing a press conference at the Chikim Conference Hall, Buulalane, in Churachandpur district, the MIC spokesperson and general secretary said the organisation remains focused on its core objective of uniting all Zo descendants under the Mizo nomenclature. They clarified that the council does not recognise or engage with non-existent organisations and asserted that the Aizawl tour was a testament to MIC’s long-standing commitment to Zo unity.
During the three-day integration tour, the MIC delegation held meetings with leaders of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) General Headquarters, Zo Re-Unification Organisation (ZoRO), and the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), in addition to the Chief Minister of Mizoram. The delegation said they were warmly received by all stakeholders, and discussions centred on pathways and mechanisms to strengthen the integration of all Zo descendants under a shared Mizo identity.

The council further stated that deliberations also covered the possibility of organising the traditional Chapchar Kut festival in Lamka, the need for a Mizoram Guest House in Churachandpur district, and the potential use of Mizoram Houses established in various cities across India by all Zofas or Zo descendants.
According to the MIC, the delegation also met leaders of all political parties in Mizoram, where they discussed the prevailing situation of Zo descendants in both Manipur and Mizoram. These interactions, the council said, aimed at fostering emotional, cultural, linguistic, and administrative integration—an initiative that was appreciated by the leaders and organisations they engaged with.
The MIC reiterated its resolve to continue dialogue and coordination with Mizo leaders and institutions to advance unity and collective identity among Zo communities across regions.
