Mizoram reports highest single-day COVID-19 cases on Sunday

NNN | AIZAWL, AUG 2: Mizoram reported the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases on Sunday with the detection of 55 cases of the disease.

According to the Health Department, with the latest cases, Mizoram has so far reported 468 cases of COVID-19. The state reported the first cases of the disease on March 24.

The Health Department then said that, out of the 55 fresh cases of COVID-19, 54 cases were detected from Aizawl district and one case from Lunglei district.

It can be noted here that Mizoram reported the second highest single day increase of COVID-19 cases on July 10 with the detection of 51 cases of the disease.

The Health department then said that, out of the 55 fresh cases of COVID-19, 47 are security force personnel and the remaining cases are civilians.

According to the latest update on COVID-19, 230 (49.14%) cases are security force personnel and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) staffers while 238 (50.85%) cases are civilians.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered cases of COVID-19 in the state has risen to 253  on Sunday. With this, the number of active cases of the disease stands at 215.
