Naga Army Accuses Kuki Militants, Indian SF of Acting Together in Litan area; Calls Naga Youth to Defend Land

UKHRUL: The Eastern Flank of the Naga Army under the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has issued a statement alleging involvement of Kuki militants and Indian security forces in incidents targeting Tangkhul Naga villages and warned against any attempts to carve out parts of Nagalim for a proposed “Kuki Homeland.”

In a statement dated March 16, 2026, the Naga Army said it seeks peaceful coexistence with other communities in the region, provided that the territorial and political rights of the Naga people are respected. It stated that tensions arise when, according to them, attempts are made to “carve out parts of Nagalim” for a separate Kuki homeland.

The statement referred to multiple incidents it claimed were carried out by Kuki militants. It alleged that an innocent Tangkhul Winger driver was assaulted on the Imphal–Ukhrul Highway in June 2025. It also cited the February 8, 2026 arson incident at Litan, where it claimed more than 23 houses belonging to Tangkhul Naga families were burned down.

The Eastern Flank further alleged that the attack was carried out by Kuki militants “in collusion with Indian security forces,” accusing the Government of India of using Kuki militants as proxies against Naga political rights.

Calling the alleged attacks an encroachment on Naga land, the group stated that it would defend the “God-given land, Nagalim,” and appealed to Naga youth to prepare to defend their land.

The statement also expressed support for the February 11, 2026 press statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of NSCN/GPRN regarding the Litan burning incident, which declared that the organization would stand its ground to defend Naga land.

Additionally, the Eastern Flank endorsed a resolution adopted by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) during a presidential address on February 23, 2026, which reportedly called for cutting all civic and economic ties with Kuki communities.

According to the statement, the decision includes a ban on timber trade, petroleum products, and food supplies along the Indo-Myanmar border stretch from Thana to Namlee village.
