UKHRUL, NOVEMBER 29: The Naga Army conducted a Change of Guard ceremony on November 29, 2025, at the Longvibu Conference Hall, marking the formal handover of command from General Ningkhan Shimray (MC, VC) to Lt General Honreishang Shadang (MSM, MC).
General Ningkhan Shimray, has served as the Commander-in-Chief, also known as Longvibu, for the past eight years.
“He was accorded a grand military guard of honor as he walked past the red carpet upon his retirement from military service after 45 years in the army,” Naga Army said in a statement.
The programme, led by Brig. Paul Kasomwoshi (MSM), Camp Commander GHQ, included prayers, speeches from the outgoing and incoming Longvibus, a formal handing-over act, and a blessing by Col. Pitovi L. Kive (MSM), Head Chaplain of the Naga Army. Senior officers delivered short addresses, followed by the closing prayer by Col. Huisimang (MSM).
The solemn ceremony of handing and taking charge was presided over by Keya Kilonser Zeneituo James Pienyu in the presence of dignitaries and army officers at GHQ Church. Pastor Diginbou invoked God’s blessings and pronounced the prayer of submission for both the outgoing and the incoming Longvibu, the Naga Army added.
