New Tusom Higher Secondary School, has been inaugurated on Sunday by Chingai assembly constituency MLA Khashim Vashum as the chief guest.
The newly upgraded New Tusom higher secondary program under Jessami Sub-Division, Kachamthai Faiga Gangmai, MSC, Additional Deputy Comissioner, Jessami, Ukhrul and RK Makaohei Singh, MES, Zonal Educational Officer Ukhrul, as Guest of honour, Esau Shaiza, Principal New Tusom Hr. Sec. School, VS Shangmayo, Headman Tusom, Graceson M. Vashum Chairman VDC New Tusom, Somipam Vashum, RKL President, Joy Horam, NSRU President, former Jessami Chairman, Challou Headman, villagers and neighboring villagers.
Shangam M. Vashum of New Tusom Village donated the whole plot of Higher Sec. School.
Khashim Vashum, in his address, said that he will pay the fees for all the students who are yet to take their admission. “I encourage government school. I myself was a product of government school. Don’t look down just because you are studying in government school”, said Vashum.
He told the students to fear God as it is the beginning of knowledge.
“I am giving my special focus on child’s education. Supporting those willing students who could not afford further education is my joy”.
He further went on to express his gratitude to CM N Biren Singh, Education Minister, Education Department and ZEO Ukhrul for selecting and upgrading New Tusom Frontier high school to Higher Sec. School and for noticing the poor condition of educational sector and willingly agreeing to promote and upgrade to Higher Sec. School.
He urged RKL and NSRU student body should focus their attention on educational sector and promote the areas educational status so does the teaching staff give their best.
Shangam Vashum said that Frontier High School was named after senior advocate Peter Pheiray to make it an educational destination of the area.
“Let’s acknowledge the good work done by the MLA. I wholeheartedly donated my plot. If human kind are honest, there is no joy”, he added.
RK Makaohei Singh stated that higher school should adequate teaching staff and assure to ensure the requirements.
Chinaorar Horam, SDMC Chairman, said that this is a history for Khashim and Tusom Village and will be remembered by people for lifetime. He then called upon the youth to play proactive role in disseminating education. “To build good society, we have to educate our children”, Horam added.
He continued by saying that the school is not just for New Tusom but for everyone.
Principal of the New Tusom Higher Sec. School expressed his gratitude to Khashim Vashum MLA, ZEO Ukhrul, dignitaries, teaching staff and students for making this program a grand success.
Furthermore, he said, “I was touched by MLA, Khashim Vashums speech where he encouraged parents to enroll their wards in the government school. I began my education from government school. Education is the most valuable asset”.
He urged the area MLA to look into the infrastructure as it is non-existent.
New Tusom High School was upgraded to Higher Secondary School Under order no 11/3/88-SE(S) dated August 27, 2021.
