NPO objects to setting up pre-fabricated houses for IDPs in Naga’s land

Senapati: The Naga Peoples’ Organization (NPO), Senapati, while welcoming the Government’s initiative to shelter the Internal Displaced Persons (IDP) caused by the present unrest in the state opposed to setting up the pre-fabricated house in Naga’s land stated that any rehabilitation effort by the State Government should not be a reason for another conflict and dispute amongst different communities in the state. This was stated in a press release issued by the publicity wing of the NPO on Friday.

The press release mentioned that the NPO also appreciates the Government effort to erase the sufferings and plights of the distressed people and bring back normalcy in the state. The state has witnessed the worse of turmoil in the past months which has caused immense sufferings to both the Meitei and Kuki communities. It also calls comforting to see things slowly returning to normalcy. Every right thinking citizens should welcome and appreciate the steps taken up by the state Government, it stated.

The NPO, however, is of the opinion that any rehabilitation effort by the state Government should not be a reason for another conflict and dispute amongst different communities in the state. Land and people are inseparable to the indigenous people of the state. The Nagas have been living in their ancestral land since ages, and the Nagas cannot afford to part away any part of the Nagas’ ancestral land. Any effort to forcefully occupy Nagas’ land shall be effectively and strongly opposed, it said.
