NSU Bengaluru Celebrates 52nd Annual Freshers Cum Nagas Night

Bengaluru : The 52nd Freshers cum Nagas’ Night of the Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB), under the theme Cultural Mosaic: “Orchestrating Unity across Borders’’ was conducted successfully on September 23, 2023 at the India Campus Crusade for Christ, Bengaluru.

The event was attended by more than 900 Nagas residing in and around Bengaluru. The annual student community event weaves together the rich cultural tapestry of the Nagas, embracing each unique culture without borders. The yearly event not only brings Nagas residing in Bengaluru together but also honours the roots and identity of Nagas as a united and undivided community.

The event was participated by scores of individuals from all walks of life, across all ranks and positions, highlighting its inclusive nature. Chaitali Panmei IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Goa and Karnataka, Dr Along Jamir Director (Translations) “The Bible Society of India’’ and Dr Marchang Reimeingam Assistant Professor, Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru were the special guests and guest speaker.

Speaking on the occasion Panmei advised students to work hard, be disciplined, asserting that discipline is a crucial quality which is indispensable in students’ life. “Without consistency, diligence and discipline it is difficult to achieve big things,” she said.

She went on to say that Nagas are bestowed with rich cultural heritage as a society, and must never forget our origin. Furthermore, she lauded the office bearers for their relentless dedication and everyone involved to make the grant event happen.

Dr Jamir underscored the significance of unity in progress and peace, drawing from historical lessons. “History reminds us that unity is the foundation for progress, peace, and perseverance, whether on a global or local scale,” he added.

The event was sponsored by Seven sisters, Maven Kitchen, and Co- Sponsored by Korean clothing Bengaluru, Pixie unisex salon spa, elate Salon, Hm artistic flo, King Chilli. The media partner was Rule of Thirds. The first session saw Zealingrong dance troupe presenting a vibrant cultural dance. Arhoni and Awungshi hosted the event throughout.

NSUB President Senstuthung Odyuo welcomed the gathering and acknowledged their presence. He branded diversity as an element of strength, and said that our borders may separate us geographically, but they do not define the limits of our unity. A speech on behalf of the freshers was delivered by Neipherenuo Kire. Rev Dr Reihe, pastor PNPF of the Poumai Baptist Church Bengaluru offered prayers for the freshers that were present at the event. The first session was followed by a Naga feast.

The second session was marked with mesmerizing performances from various solo artists and groups accompanied by the Freshers program. The event portrays as one of the most memorable and significant in the history of NSUB Freshers’ meet as 7-year-old-boy named T Samsui Patrick from the Maram Community won the hearts of many with his innocent yet funky dance steps. The highlight of the evening was the NSUB Mr and Miss Freshers contest.

Sumenron Odyuo and Illi Ayemi NSU Bengluru

The juries of the contest were Rakovinai Zho, Nuthipru Neinu, Sheyani Kayina and guest judge as Tiapong Tzudir wherein, Sumenron Odyuo and Illi Ayemi were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher of NSUB 2023 representing Lotha unit and Sumi unit respectively.

JN Roziine, cultural secretary, NSUB expressed gratitude at the end. The event concluded successfully with a benediction by Yimkum Murry, pastor Lotha Fellowship Bengaluru.
