Patriots’ Day observed all over the State

Different organizations, groups, associations and bodies on Friday observed Patriots’ Day all across the State to commemorate and honour the martyrs who laid down their lives in the Anglo-Manipur War of l891.

BISHNUPUR
District Administration, Bishnupur observed Patriots’ Day at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur today.

The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Krishna Kumar, IAS; Superintendent of Police Bishnupur, Hopson Sapam; ADM Bishnupur, H Bobby Sharma and other officials of the district by maintaining COVID appropriate behaviour.

Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Kumar recalled the supreme sacrifices made by Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General and urged all to affirm in following their noble footsteps for the welfare and honour of all the people in the State and country.

Floral tributes were offered at the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General for the supreme sacrifices.

CHANDEL
District Administration Chandel also celebrated Patriots’ Day at District Head Quarter, DC complex today.

Floral tributes were paid by the Deputy Commissioner Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar; Superintendent of Police Chandel, L Deven Singh; CO 8MR, Somendro Singh and other officials of the district.

JIRIBAM
Jiribam Block Congress Committee (JBCC) also celebrated Patriot’s Day at the office of JBCC in Bapupara, Jiribam district.

It was attended by Badhrur Rahaman, incharge secretary Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee; Jalal Udin co-opted Pradesh Congress Committee Member, Th Shanti, president JBCC, Abdul Mannan, convener Jiribam Minority Congress Committee and other party workers.

Patriots’ Day was also celebrated at Ningsingkhul by paying floral tributes to the statues of the martyrs.

KAKCHING
Alliance for Development Alternatives Manipur (ADAM) Kakching and Management Committee, Angaan Ching Eco Park, Kakching also celebrated Patriots’ Day by carrying out a tree plantation at Heritage Park and an interactive session at Angaan Ching Open Air Library The interactive session was attended by Surjit Kshetrimayum, secretary ADAM; Noorsafi Khan, secretary Youth Club Sora and Mayanglambam Ibomcha, Retd Head Master.

Besides, the tree plantation was participated by Kakching Trekkers, Team HELMET, Youth Club Sora and well wishers of Angaan Ching Eco Park.

Meanwhile, in line with the observance of Patriots’ Day, Kakching Khunnai Chaokhat Hanba Lup (KKCL), All Kakching Students’ Union (AKSU), JNGVO, Friendship Sporting Club (FSC), TWYLA Club and sanitary workers of KMC carried out a cleanliness drive along the road leading to District Hospital Kakching.

SENAPATI
Remembering the supreme sacrifice of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General, District Administration, Senapati also celebrated Patriots’ Day today at DRDA Conference Hall.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati congratulated the District Administration teams who would be receiving the Chief Minister’s Award for Good Governance on Independence Day and appealed to the members present to continue their good work to make Senapati a great performing district.

Floral tributes were als paid to the martyrs by Mahesh Chaudhari and the DLO’s present.

It was attended by Sub Divisional Officers, District Level Officer’s and various Civil Societies Organisation maintaining COVID-19 SOPs.

Similarly, the Thangal Union under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) also observed Patriots’ Day today and paid fitting tributes to the martyrs at Thangal General Ecological Park, Mayangkhang.

The programme was attended by S Kho John, president UNC; Asha Wungnam, president Naga Women’s Union (NWU) and YK Raping, president Thangal Union as the presidium members.

Laying of wreaths to the statue of General Thangal was taken up at the beginning of the programme by all the dignitaries with salute and the National anthem was presented by the 65 (M) Girls Battalion, NCC of the Mt Everest Hr Sec School students.

Delegates from the UNC, NWU, ANSAM, NPMHR, NPO, SDSA, SDWA and their federating units were present at the observation.

TENGNOUPAL
Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, AMSU Tengnoupal District Committee, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup also celebrated Patriots’ Day at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung, Moreh by paying floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General. THOUBAL
District Administration, Thoubal also observed Patriot’s Day today at the Conference hall of DC Office, Thoubal.

Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Rangnamei Rang Peter and the District Level Officials paid floral tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the motherland.

As a part of the Patriot’s Day observance, the District Administration Thoubal also organised an activity related to “Catch the Rain” under “Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav” inside the DC office complex by cleaning the ponds/ water bodies.

Moreover, Patriots’ Day was also celebrated at Natun Bazar Chariali, near Hojai FRU, Hojai District, Assam by Assam Pradesh Manipuri Association (APMA), Hojai; and at Gouranagar, Khowai, Tripura by Manipuri Literary & Cultural Forum, Tripura and Meira Paibi, Khowai.
