Senapati, July 29: Drawing the attention of the state Governor, the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Lepaona has sought an enquiry into the Jal Jeevan Mission implementation in Senapati district.
In a memorandum submitted to the Manipur Governor on Tuesday, President of the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Lepaona, L. Pule Lovejoy, raised concerns over alarming discrepancies in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the region. While the official website has shown over 75% tap connections for rural households under their jurisdiction, the reality is starkly different—with zero connectivity, the memorandum stated.

Despite the mission’s promise to provide 100% connectivity by 2024, the Poumai Naga community continues to suffer from acute water scarcity. The consequences of this gap include unmet community needs, reduced public trust, and potential social unrest. The student body office has urgently requested the esteemed office to conduct an independent inquiry into the execution of the mission in the area, stating that intervention is crucial to address the pressing issue and ensure accountability and transparency.
