Red Shield Gunners Celebrate Raksha Bandhan with School Children in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 9: Under the roof of the Bhagat Singh Auditorium in Agartala, the age-old festival of Raksha Bandhan took on a special meaning as soldiers and school children came together, reviving a tradition that blends cultural pride with national duty.

Soldiers of the Red Shield Gunners stationed at Agartala Military Station marked the occasion on Friday with enthusiastic participation from local school children. Young girls tied the sacred thread of ‘Rakhi’ on the wrists of the soldiers, symbolizing the enduring bond of brotherhood and protection that lies at the heart of Indian culture.

While Raksha Bandhan is celebrated across the country as a festival of sibling love, in Tripura it resonates deeply with the state’s history and cultural ethos. The values of camaraderie, protection, and mutual respect have long been central to both tribal and non-tribal communities, aligning closely with the festival’s spirit.

During the celebration, students expressed heartfelt gratitude to the soldiers for their dedication to safeguarding the nation’s borders. “We consider you our brothers who stand strong to protect us,” one student said, capturing the collective sentiment of the gathering.

Following the rakhi-tying ceremony, the soldiers presented the children with gifts, further strengthening the bond between the armed forces and the community. In return, the soldiers reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the people of Tripura and the country at large.
