KOHIMA, SEP 12: The Rising People’s Party has issued a strong condemnation of Minister for Higher Education Temjen Imna Along, following his dismissal of a significant fraud case involving Rs. 125 Crores as a “normal business dispute.” The Party is calling for Minister Along’s immediate removal from the Council of Ministers, criticizing his comments as a blatant attempt to downplay serious allegations of fraud.
The Party has also expressed dissatisfaction with the State BJP’s lack of action, accusing them of hypocrisy given their commitment to a “Corruption-free India.” They argue that the State BJP should take the lead in holding their colleagues accountable and advise Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to dismiss Along.

In a related development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties linked to two contractors involved in the Kohima High Court complex construction case. This move, welcomed by the public, represents a significant step in addressing corruption. The Rising People’s Party has called for the ED to continue its investigation, which includes 10 PWD engineers and six contractors.
The Party is also urging Chief Minister Rio to grant prosecution sanction to the CBI without further delay. They argue that the refusal to proceed with prosecution is suggestive of political interference and is undermining efforts to address corruption effectively. The Kohima High Court’s intervention has been seen as a positive sign for those advocating for transparency and accountability in the state.
