Ukhrul, July 18: The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has issued a scathing statement criticizing the recent visit of A.K. Mishra, the Government of India’s Interlocutor for Naga peace talks, calling his trips “pointless” and a “waste of public resources.”
In a press release issued Friday, the RPP expressed frustration over what it termed A.K. Mishra’s repeated visits to Nagaland with “nothing to offer except false hope.” The party claimed that his engagements have failed to yield any tangible outcome and accused him of misleading the public with an illusion of progress.

“An astute person like Mr. Mishra should excuse himself from making monthly trips to the state just to excite some gullible minds,” the party stated, adding that the frequent visits drain both central and state resources.
The RPP criticized what it called a newly devised “Common Execution Plan,” reportedly aimed at integrating the Framework Agreement signed with the NSCN-IM and the Agreed Position signed with the NNPGs. The party claimed the initiative has only managed to excite some factions while leaving the public skeptical.
“The art of doing something and nothing at the same time will keep Mr. Mishra seemingly busy till he is replaced by another very busy man,” the statement read.

The party also revisited previous criticisms of R.N. Ravi, former interlocutor and Governor, accusing him of sowing division among the Naga people by separately negotiating the FA and AP, thereby weakening the peace process. According to the RPP, Ravi’s declaration in 2019 that the peace talks were “officially over” served to deepen existing rifts within the Naga community.
In conclusion, the Rising People’s Party called on Mr. Mishra to stop “raising false hopes” and instead push for genuine resolution or refrain from further involvement.
