Secretariat buildings of Meghalaya to be sanitised after six COVID-19 cases were detected

SHILLONG, SEPT 4: The Main Secretariat and the Additional Secretariat Buildings in Shillong will be sanitised on Saturday and Sunday after six cases of COVID-19 were detected.

Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed on Friday that three cases of COVID-19 were reported from the Secretariat buildings on Thursday while another three cases were detected on Friday.

Tynsong also informed that 65 high risk contacts of these six people have been identified and till Friday the samples of 30 such persons came out negative. 

The Deputy Chief Minister then informed that the state government had also given an advisory that people should stop visiting these two buildings from Monday to Friday next week except for few important official works.

According to Tynsong, certain rooms where those employees who tested positive for COVID-19 sat have been sealed since Thursday.

“We can’t seal the whole Secretariat. We will sanitise the buildings on Saturday and Sunday,” Tynsong said.
